All patients should have their eyes checked annually, especially if significant refractive errors in glasses exist.
All children should be checked prior to kindergarten. If eyes are crossed or patient’s family has severe refractive errors, then they should be seen earlier.
Patients wearing contact lens definitely need to be checked at least once a year. Please bring the cases the contacts lenses come out of to the office so the power, base curve, and brand of contacts can be in the chart.
Patients with a strong history of retinal detachment, high myopia, glaucoma, or other diseases of the eye may need to be seen more often.
Before coming in for an appointment, please note:
Bring a list of all medications that you are taking.
Plan on your eyes being dilated, so bring sunglasses and/or an additional driver. Now, we put reverse dilation drops in the eyes at the end of the exam but the lens is still dilated frequently when you leave.
